Born 18/03/1944 in Köslin, now Koszalin, Poland. Played as young boy guitar and accordion. Member of many bands in the GDR: Die Telestars, Luniks, Jupiters, Evgenie Kantschev.....Since 1969 until today guitar and vocals in Puhdys. Dieter Birr is one of the important musicians of the GDR. Puhdys is a classic GDR rock band performing songs with German lyrics only, since English lyrics were banned by govermental administration.
