PETE ANDERSON & THE ARCHIVES, the most popular jivin' outfit from Latvia, is unique – the only band in the whole USSR totally devoted to the original 50's American Rock & Roll.
They evolved their own powerful driving sound, the most unusual one in this part of the world, playing countless gigs in small clubs all over the country through the years.
On this album the guys deliver strong pumpin' beat with the instrumental virtuosity of the most vibrant, irresistible «Jump» style you could wish to dance your life away to.
The man in front, the leader and vocalist of the band is Pete Anderson – one of the very first pioneers of rock'n'roll over here and is also still very actively performing today.
Pete, the master of his trade and a walking encyclopedia of r'n'r first started with it in 1959 at the age of 15. He formed his first band «THE MELODY MAKERS» back in 1964 when playing fashionable American music was almost a crime.
Yeah, the times were not the best for rockers and for years Pete was not on good terms with powers that be. In fact the man had lots of trouble in his life just because of being so deeply in love with this «wrong and harmful» kind of music.
He was rather reluctant and sceptical about current changes in Soviet society but in 1986 he was suddenly granted the right to perform publically again.
Momentarily he became the heart and soul of the r'n'r revival moment in Soviet Union. The Archives, a band he performed with «secretly» since 1982 quickly expanded and stabilized in 1988 as a strong 8 – piece pro force.
Currently they're one of the hottest club attractions around the Baltic as well as in most of the biggest cities in the USSR.
They also turned in some killer performances at major r'n'r Brean festival in England in 1989 where PETE & THE ARCHIVES had a chance to play on the same bill with Pete's youth idols – Bill Haley's original Comets.
Now their shaking, rattling and rolling sound is in big demand everywhere.
This happiest disc is a brilliant collection of the most danceable r'n'r classics recorded 2 – track absolutely live. 1989.
This LP really deserves your attention!
